It looks like Hailey Bieber is trying to set the record straight when it comes to the long-held belief by many that her husband Justin Bieber started a romantic relationship with her when he was still involved with ex-girlfriend Selena Gomez.
During the Wednesday (September 28) episode of the podcast Call Her Daddy, Hailey joins host Alex Cooper to discuss those rumors and tell her own “truth.” Justin and Gomez officially ended their relationship in March 2018. Justin and Hailey would end up getting married six months later.
“Your husband was in a very public relationship [with Gomez]. People were obsessed with them being together. Were you ever with Justin romantically at the same time as [Gomez]?” Cooper asks Hailey in a preview for the episode.
Hailey responds: “A lot of the hate and perpetuation comes from like, ‘Oh, you stole him!’ It’s about people knowing the truth. Because there’s a truth.”
Many people consider Hailey finally coming out after all these years to explain herself as a way for her to try to get ahead of the story in case it’s covered in Gomez’s upcoming Apple+ documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me, which debuts November 4, 2022.
We’re not sure if Gomez will talk about her eight-year-long off-again-on-again relationship with Justin in her documentary, but most of Gomez’s fans online seem to agree that they’d rather hear from her about the situation and not Hailey.
We’ll see how this all plays out in the court of public opinion in the next couple of months.
