Cardi B is headed to the deep blue sea. The superstar rapper has boarded the voice cast for the upcoming animated production, Baby Shark’s Big Movie.

According to Variety, the film is the first feature-length spin-off of the popular pre-school series Baby Shark’s Big Show!, which premiered on Nickelodeon in 2020. Currently, the show is in its second season.

In the new movie, Baby Shark and his family decide to pack up and move to Chomp City, the big city where all the sharks live. According to the movie’s official synopsis, Baby Shark “must adjust to his new life without his best friend, William (Luke Youngblood)” and find a way to break a spell cast by an “evil pop starfish named Stariana (Ashley Tisdale) who plans to steal his gift of song in order to dominate all underwater music.”

Cardi B will play the character Sharki B, while her husband and fellow rapper, Offset, will play Offshark. Her kids will also get in on the fun. Her daughter Kulture will play Kulture Sharki and her son Wave will play Wavey Shark.

Along with the show’s regular voice cast, which includes Kimiko Glenn (Orange Is the New Black) as Baby Shark and Natasha Rothwell (Insecure) as Mommy Shark, other guest roles include Saturday Night Live cast members Ego Nwodim and Chloe Fineman.

Last year, Cardi B, her husband Offset, and their daughter Kulture lent their voices to an episode of Baby Shark’s Big Show! In the episode, Cardi B’s Sharki B, teaches the underwater community of Carnivore Cove to perform a new dance trend known as the Seaweed Sway. In a press release, Sharki B is described as “the biggest star in the seven seas – flashy, awe-inspiring, and ruthlessly fun — but always 100% herself and fin-spires other fishies to do the same.”

Baby Shark’s Big Movie is scheduled to premiere later this year on Paramount+.
