Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s mega-hit “Despacito” has officially been dethroned as the most-viewed video on YouTube. As of today (Nov. 2),  the Boricua duo was overtaken by the viral hit “Baby Shark.”

Since being released in 2017, “Despacito” went on to take the top spot on YouTube’s most-viewed videos list. After a few years in that position, the game-changing Latin hit has slid down to the runner-up spot. South Korean education channel Pinkfong’s version of “Baby Shark” is now the most-viewed video on YouTube with over 7.04 billion views as of press time.

Pinkfong’s version of “Baby Shark” (listed as the “Baby Shark Dance”) was first released in 2016. The channel enlisted 10-year-old Korean-American Hope Segoine to sing this updated version of the children’s nursery rhyme. In 2018, “Baby Shark” and the dance featured in the music colorful video, started to go viral in the United States. Since then, the song has become a global phenomenon with growing popularity as it takes down “Despacito.”

In early 2019, “Baby Shark” peaked at No. 32 on Billboard’s all-genre Hot 100 chart. The song also reached No. 6 on the U.K. singles chart that year.
