A new, free-to-watch streaming platform dedicated to showcasing Latine films and TV series is now available to audiences across the U.S.

Earlier this month, Avenida Entertainment Group launched A+, the new destination for movie lovers to find “English-language content that reflects the vibrant diversity and culture of the American Latino community.” Avenida is a Latino-owned media company based in Los Angeles.

Currently, A+ offers a small albeit strong curated selection of films, TV series, documentaries and more. Fanny Grande, CEO and co-founder of Avenida, said they hope to continue to build on their catalog and “break away from the stereotypes” and champion Latine talent in Hollywood and beyond.

“The goal of the streamer is to create a demand in the marketplace, so we can license and create more content for our community,” Grande told Remezcla. “We want to help create our own path instead of waiting for Hollywood to change.”

Some of the features of A+ include a mix of original productions and acquired titles and inclusive programming – from drama and comedy to children’s shows. Some of the titles listed on the platform include the 2020 drama Chasing Wonders, starring Oscar-nominated actor Edward James Olmos, and the 207 documentary Elián, about Elián González, a 5-year-old child who became the center of an international custody battle in 2000.

“We are excited to provide a space where Latino stories are not only told but celebrated,” said Nelson Grande, co-founder of Avenida. “With A+, we are creating a platform where the diverse voices and rich narratives of the Latino community can thrive and be appreciated by a broader audience.”

Avenida plans to officially launch A+ at the L’attitude conference next month. Download the A+ app and register free today, or visit www.watchaplus.tv to get started.
