A year after Colman Domingo got his first Oscar nomination for his performance in the film Rustin, Domingo is proving that his presence at these kinds of events is anything but a fluke. The actor became a two-time Oscar nominee after grabbing a nod in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category, this time for his performance in the film Sing Sing.

Domingo will go against Adrien Brody from The Brutalist, Timothée Chalamet from A Complete Unknown, Ralph Fiennes from Conclave and Sebastian Stan from The Apprentice.

Sing Sing is based on the real-life Rehabilitation Through Arts (RTA) program and tells the story of a group of men at Sing Sing Maximnun Security Prison who are involved in the creation of theatre shows through the program.

Last year, he became the first Afro-Latino to be nominated in this category. And with his nomination for Sing Sing he becomes the first Afro-Latino to be two-time Oscar nominee for Best Actor in a Leading Role.

In an Instagram post, Colman Domingo shared his excitement for the Oscar nomination with a caption that read, “2nt time around. Grateful about it all.” He went on to say that hte movie was “Made with love. Made with hope. Made for the love of art and all the healing powers that it can possess.”

The 97th Academy Awards are set to air live March 2, at 7 PM ET/4PM PT on ABC and Hulu.
