These Música Mexicana Stars Sing the Theme Song for Netflix’s ‘Celda 211’

Fuerza Regida and Calle 24 are teaming up to bring the music to a new Netflix series about Mexican prison riot. Last night (Feb. 4), the música mexicana stars released their collaboration “Como Estrella,” which is the theme song for Celda 211, or Prison Cell 211.
Fuerza Regida and Calle 24 are most known for their smash “Que Onda” with Chino Pacas. The lyrics for that collaboration were the fifth most-viewed on Spotify among música mexicana songs last year. Calle 24, born Diego Millán, has also co-written hits like “CRAZYS” by Fuerza Regida and Tito Double P’s “Escápate” featuring Chino Pacas. In addition to the success of “Que Onda,” the Chihuahua native has moved to the forefront as an artist with his songs “Apaga El Cel” featuring Chino Pacas and “Que Esta Pasando” with Fuerza Regida. Now, Calle 24 and Fuerza Regida are joining forces again for the Celda 211 (Prison Cell 211) soundtrack.
“Being part of the Celda 211 soundtrack is a very important step in my career,” Calle 24 shared in a statement. “This series portrays an intense and raw reality, full of strong emotions and personal struggles, and ‘Como Estrella’ fits perfectly with that story. It’s a song that speaks of absence, memories, and the strength left behind by those who are no longer with us.”
Prison Cell 211 is based on the real-life prison riot that took place in Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, in 2023. A Mexican gang stormed Cereso No. 3 state prison, which resulted in multiple fatalities, many people wounded, and inmates escaping. In the fiery corrido “Como Estrella,” Calle 24 and Fuerza Regida’s Jesús Ortiz Paz (JOP) sing about being resilient in the face of challenges and difficulties. Prison Cell 211 started streaming on Netflix today.
Calle 24 is signed to JOP’s Street Mob Records. In December, he released his most recent album ONDEADO$. That same month, Fuerza Regida also dropped their joint EP Mala Mía with Grupo Frontera.
