‘Siempre Selena’ Tribute Special Coming to Telemundo — Here’s When
With the 30th anniversary of Selena Quintanilla’s passing approaching, Telemundo will explore her enduring legacy in the two-part special. Siempre Selena: 30 Años de Su Muerte will include interviews with people who were close to the late queen of Tex-Mex as well as artists like Jennifer Lopez, Carin León, and her brother, AB Quintanilla.
While the Tejano queen was riding high in the música mexicana space and on the cusp of an English-language crossover, she was tragically murdered on March 31, 1995. Yolanda Saldívar was convicted of shooting the Mexican-American to death. In the nearly 30 years since her passing, Selena’s legacy and her music have continued to live on.
In the upcoming special Siempre Selena: 30 Años de Su Muerte (Always Selena: 30 Years After Her Death), journalist Jessica Carrillo will revisit the places where the singer was born as well as the site of her murder. She will also interview people that were involved with the case that put Saldívar behind bars.
As part of the two-part special, TV presenter Giselle Blondet will also chat with people that were close to Selena, including Quintanilla and her Los Dinos bandmate Pete Astudillo. Lopez, who starred in the 1997 biopic about the life of Selena, will also open up about playing that iconic role. Blondet will also interview música mexicana stars like León and Ana Bárbara and Mexican celebrities Yuri and Lucía Méndez about their thoughts about Selena.

The first part of Siempre Selena: 30 Años de Su Muerte will air on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m. EST on Telemundo. The second part will follow on Sunday, March 30 at 4 p.m. EST. This special comes on the heels of the documentary Selena y Los Dinos premiering at the Sundance Film Festival in January. On April 25, Selena’s Entre a Mi Mundo album will be released on vinyl for the first time.
