Omar Apollo is getting into the cumbia groove for the first time. The Mexican-American pop star teamed up with Latin Mafia for their retro “Hecho Para Ti” music video, released today (July 25). Omar also sings in Spanish with the rising Mexican trio.

Last year, Latin Mafia went from indie to 100 after signing with Rimas Entertainment, the home of Bad Bunny. The Mexico City-based sibling trio includes Mike, Milton, and Emilio de la Rosa. On the heels of their debut album TODOS LOS DÍAS TODO EL DÍA, Latin Mafia were nominated for Best New Artist at the 2024 Latin Grammy Awards. These past few months, they teased their highly-anticipated collaboration with Omar Apollo. Last month, he appeared as a surprise guest at their Palacio de los Deportes concerts in Mexico City where they performed “Hecho Para Ti” live. Now, the full song and music video for the collaboration are finally here.

“Hecho Para Ti” is Latin Mafia’s first taste of new music since last October’s TODOS LOS DÍAS TODO EL DÍA album. The genre-bending brothers take on cumbia and reshape the sound with a soulful pop twist. Omar Apollo joins Milton and Emilio in singing about being madly in love with someone that doesn’t quite feel the same way. Latin Mafia have called the alluring cumbia banger their “migajera” anthem, which is Mexican slang to describe when a person settles for crumbs in romance or a relationship.

The music video for “Hecho Para Ti” was directed by Aidan Cullen and executive produced by STILLZ, who has worked with Bad Bunny and Rosalía. Latin Mafia and Omar Apollos shot the VHS-styled video at the iconic Salón Tropicana in Mexico City. All the guys step back in time to channel the spirit of the sweaty and kitschy Mexican nightclubs from a few decades ago.
