Shakira will revisit some of her biggest hits, including “Hips Don’t Lie,” with the help of Ed Sheeran and Beéle. This morning (Oct. 17), the Colombian pop icon announced that she will honor the anniversaries of two of her albums with a special EP.
Earlier this month, Shakira celebrated the 30th anniversary of her breakthrough album Pies Descalzos. The LP made her a superstar in Latin America with hits like “Estoy Aquí” and “¿Dónde Estás Corazón?” On her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, Shakira has also paid homage to the album by adding “Estoy Aquí” and “Antología” to the setlist. On Oct. 22, she will further honor the album with the EP Spotify Anniversary | Oral Fixation (20th) and Pies Descalzos (30th) LIVE. Shakira recorded new versions of “Pies Descalzos, Sueños Blancos” and “Antología.”
With the EP, Shakira will also celebrate the 20th anniversary of her Fijación Oral, Vol. 1 album. That LP included the global smash “La Tortura” featuring Spanish crooner Alejandro Sanz. Instead of going for the big hits on the album, she is opting to revisit “La Pared” and “Día De Enero” for the EP. November will also mark the 20th anniversary of her Oral Fixation, Vol. 2 album. That LP became a huge success after “Hips Don’t Lie” with Wyclef Jean was added to the reissue the following year. The Spotify EP will include a new version of “Hips Don’t Lie” featuring Ed Sheeran and fellow Barranquilla native Beéle.
Last month, Beéle teased the collaboration with Shakira in a video on TikTok. In the video, he danced with Shakira inside a recording studio. Shakira also recently added two more dates to Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour. The tour will now wrap up in Hollywood, FL, where she will perform at the Hard Rock Live on Dec. 27 and 28.
