The new Netflix documentary about Selena is showing never-before-seen videos of the late Tejano icon. This morning (Tuesday, October 21), the trailer was revealed for Selena y Los Dinos.
Back in January, the documentary premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. The documentary was helmed by Mexican-American director Isabel Castro with videos and footage of Selena from her family’s personal archive. After winning the prize for U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Archival Storytelling, Selena y Los Dinos was taken down from the Sundance website after fans started leaking parts of it on social media.
In May, Karol G, a lifelong Selena fan, became one of the first people to find out that the documentary was heading to Netflix.
Now the trailer for the documentary is here with unseen footage of Selena from throughout her lifetime. Videos and pictures of her from childhood to behind-the-scenes moments while on tour are shown in the trailer. There’s even a reference to the 1997 biopic, which starred Jennifer Lopez, with the real Selena saying, “La verdad, me siento muy… emocionada.”

The trailer for the documentary also shows new interviews with her family members and her widower Chris Pérez.
Selena y Los Dinos will start streaming on Netflix on November 17.
