Rosalía has finally performed the most talked-about song from her new album LUX. Last night (Nov. 16), the Spanish pop star sang “La Perla” live on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon with a fairytale twist.

Rosalía has showcased various facets of her artistry with her latest album, LUX, released on Nov. 7. She seamlessly blended pop with classical and orchestral music elements in the LP’s lead single, “Berghain.” Throughout the divine LP, Rosalía also sings in 13 different languages. However, what has people talking the most is that a few songs on LUX might be about her ex-fiancé, Rauw Alejandro. In particular, fans are convinced “La Perla” is about the Puerto Rican singer the most.” In her breakup bolero, Rosalía cuts an ex down to size by calling them an “emotional terrorist,” among other things.

While Rosalía was a guest on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show, she performed “La Perla” live for the first time. She pulled inspiration from the fairytale The Princess and the Pea, which is about determining if a girl is a true princess from feeling a pebble underneath a stack of mattresses. Looking like a princess herself, Rosalía started the performance singing from atop a pile of mattresses. After she jumps down, she finds a giant pearl tucked between the mattresses and tosses it. Something else unique about this stunning performance is that it included subtitles that translated every one of Rosalía’s cutting lyrics. She also performed with a full orchestra.

“La Perla” marks Rosalía’s first collaboration with a Mexican act. On the LP, the song features Mexican-American group Yahritza y Su Esencia. LUX became her first album to debut within the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart. The LP bowed on the chart at No. 4 with 46,000 copies sold in the U.S.
