This Mexican Queen is Making History on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World’

Mexico is stepping into the RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World ring for the first time. This week, the cast of the third season was revealed with Drag Race México alum Serena Morena in the mix.
RuPaul’s Drag Race: UK vs. the World is an international all-stars spin-off. The show usually sees past contestants from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK compete with queens from other franchises. In the upcoming third season, a contestant from Drag Race México will enter the competition for the first time. Serena Morena, who originally appeared on the first season of the Mexican franchise, is making history as the first competitor from Mexico on UK vs. the World. The Aguascalientes native is vying for the title of “Queen of the Mothertucking World” and a £50,000 cash prize.
“I can’t quite put into words how happy I am to share that I’ve been part of this incredible season — truly the best experience of my life,” Serena Morena wrote in a post on Instagram. “Aguascalientes and Mexico made their way to the UK and gave it absolutely everything.”
Serena Morena is the second queen from Drag Race México to appear on an international spin-off. In 2024, her fellow season one alum Galo Varo returned for RuPaul’s Drag Race Global All Stars where she came in eighth place. Over on Instagram, several Mexican queens congratulated Serena. “Lots of success doll,” Gala Varo wrote. “You can see what Mexicans are made of. I love you.” DD Fuego, who is currently competing on RuPaul’s Drag Race, commented with multiple flame emojis and wrote, “ELLAAAAA.”
A second Latina on the cast is Fontana, who is of Brazilian descent, from Drag Race Sweden. The rest of the competition includes Sminty Drop, Kate Butch, and Zahirah Zapanta from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, Mariah Balenciaga from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and Gawdland from Drag Race Thailand. The cast is rounded out by Melinda Verga from Canada’s Drag Race, Minty Fresh from Drag Race Philippines, and The Only Noamy from Drag Race Germany. The third season of UK vs. the World will start streaming on WOW Presents Plus in the U.S. on January 27.
