Two icons have joined forces on the same song. Last night (Jan. 15), Arcángel released the beachy music video for his new single “Lluvia” featuring none other than Ricky Martin. In an exclusive for Remezcla, Arcángel also opened up about the experience of teaming up with the Latine pop legend.
“I always saw [collaborating with Ricky Martin] as something that was impossible because [he’s] been one of my biggest idols since I was a child,” he says. “I see him at such a high level that I asked myself if he even knew me or had heard of me.”
Arcángel is celebrating 20 years of his music career with his new album La 8va Maravilla. The LP includes major collaborations like “Di Amén” with Daddy Yankee, “Cuánto Cuesta” with Grupo Firme, and “Te Extraño” featuring Sech and Kapo. It also features Beéle and his own son, Austin San. Arcángel decided to launch the album last night with the release of the music video for his biggest collaboration yet, “Lluvia.” The song marks Ricky’s first taste of new music since featuring on Residente’s 2023 song “Quiero Ser Baladista.”
Arcángel adds, “You know, [Ricky] exceeded my expectations when I met him, and it was a dream come true. [This collaboration] had to happen now because now was the moment that God decided for us to meet.”
While Arcángel is known for his reggaeton and Latine trap anthems, he embraces a Caribbean pop sound in “Lluvia.” In the sensual banger, he takes turns with Ricky serenading their lovers about getting wet and wild. Arcángel taps into his inner smooth operator alongside the eternal Latine heartthrob. “[Ricky] is a really good guy and an exceptional human being,” he says. The music video for “Lluvia” shows Arcángel and Ricky singing together on a tropical beach at dusk.
