Here Are the Latinos Heading to Super Bowl LX
Art by Stephany Torres
Super Bowl LX is set and there are some Latino players to keep an eye out for.
The NFL’s big game, the game every team works for and dreams of winning, will soon be played, and only two teams can actually make it. This year, those two teams will be the New England Patriots on the AFC Side and the Seattle Seahawks on the NFC side.
The Patriots barely survived the Denver Broncos while in the middle of a snowstorm, but ultimately prevailed in the AFC Championship game, 10-7. The Seahawks delivered a dominant performance in a very competitive game, beating the Los Angeles Rams 31-27. And then, there were two. Those two will fight to see who is crowned 2025-2026 Champion.
And yes, those two include names from our communities, five in fact. That’s a pretty good number considering there aren’t that many Latinos in the NFL to begin with. A report by the Institute of Diversity and Ethics in Sport found that there were only 12 players in the NFL who identified as Latino in 2021. In 2025, however, there were 47 Latinos on NFL teams to start out the season. There have also been games played in Brazil over the last two seasons.
That means the game has grown for our communities. And so has the interest. And that’s an upward trend. Most pundits believe the number one pick in the 2026 NFL Draft will be Fernando Mendoza, of Cuban heritage. So our communities are only getting started in the league.
But who will be playing in the Super Bowl now? And what position do they play on each team? Here are the names you can root for.
Andres Borregales, Kicker, New England Patriots – Venezuelan Heritage
Christian Gonzalez, Cornerback, New England Patriots – Colombian Heritage
Jaylinn Hawkins, Safety, New England – Panamanian Heritage
Julian Love, Safety, Seattle Seahawks – Mexican & Cuban Heritage
Elijah Arroyo, Tight End, Seattle Seahawks – Mexican Heritage
Super Bowl LX will be played at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8, 2026. And we can root for our communities on the field, but also during the Halftime show, as
Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny is set to headline.
