Did you know that you can visit one of Juan Gabriel’s old properties? It turns out that many confused a dome-shaped building for Juanga’s home, but it’s not. The actual building is nearby and is now a coffee place you can visit in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.
According to Siempre En La Noticia, the reporter said that Juanga’s former building was paid/owned by him but was actually a gift to a friend, “Don Juanito,” who helped him at the start of his career as a thank-you. Though this media outlet claims the Mexican icon didn’t live in the building, he is believed to occasionally have visited and stayed there. On the other hand, Excelsior alleges that the star did live in the building and used it as a relaxing escape from his fame.
As many of us know, El Divo de Juárez was private, so the truth is unclear. But what is certain is that one of his properties is located in Playas de Tijuana—and you can now step inside it.
The building is now a café called Doria Cafe, and it is self-described as “specialty coffee with a Mediterranean flair.” The café opened last month (February 5) and is in front of the ocean, which characterizes the popular borough. Doria Cafe is getting known for its dog-friendly ambiance. It’s also becoming a hot spot for those curious to be in a building that connects to Juan Gabriel in one way or another.
Though they don’t have heavy Juanga memorabilia as one would expect because of the said connection, the place does have a placard informing customers that the Mexican icon once lived in the building.
For those curious about the new café, you can visit Doria Cafe from Mondays to Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
