Anuel AA Is Exploring Corridos on a New Album—Here’s What We Know

Anuel AA is exploring a new musical direction with plans to venture into Mexican sounds. The Puerto Rican star told Billboard Latin Music Week that he is working on a corridos album—a major development for him and a milestone for regional mexicano on the global stage.
The announcement comes as Anuel AA prepares to release Real Hasta La Muerte 2, expected in November 2026. Details about both projects remain limited, but the rapper also discussed working with Jesús Ortiz Paz, frontman of Fuerza Regida, hinting at a possible collaboration.
During the interview, as Los 40 reported, Anuel said he discovered the genre a year or two ago and quickly fell in love with it. He named Peso Pluma, Fuerza Regida, Tito Doble P, and Neton Vega among the artists he has been listening to. He also said the industry was ready for a new Latine sound to take off after reggaeton, and that he rarely listens to reggaeton or trap anymore.
Although Anuel has discussed working with Ortiz Paz, it remains to be seen what that collaboration might look like. Fans did get a special treat when Fuerza Regida and Yung Beef took the stage to perform a song together.
The timing is notable. Regional mexicano has become one of Latin music’s most influential commercial forces, while reggaeton and Latin trap remain hugely popular. One of reggaeton and Latin trap’s biggest stars turning to corridos points to a significant shift.
It remains unclear whether the corridos album marks a full stylistic reinvention or a limited experiment. Anuel said he has spent considerable time in Mexico to get a feel for the music. He noted that many people have tried recording corridos, but the genre isn’t easy to master. He even called Mexico his “first or second home.”
Anuel has already made his mark in regional mexicano through collaborations with Natanael Cano, Luis R. Conriquez, Oscar Maydon, and Fuerza Regida, among others. He has also collaborated with Álex Torres and shared details about an upcoming song with him titled “Los Leo.” We can expect more collaborations.
