The legacy of Mexican legend Juan Gabriel lives on in a special edition drop by LA-based brand, Born X Raised.
The BXR X Juan Gabriel drop features an assortment of streetwear staples, such as hoodies, t-shirts, crewnecks, snapbacks, and a sleek stadium jacket, each decked out with Gabriel’s most revered éxitos, and portraits of the artist on select pieces.
Regarded as one of the best Mexican singers and composers of all time, Gabriel is a cherished household name in Latine communities for his sentimental and playful compositions, memorable performances, and unapologetic style.
The BXR collection is a touching ode to an artist that has made a lasting impression on music and culture across generations. The visual campaign surrounding the drop honors this heartfelt connection, through a series of portraits in front of a mural of the icon by Gustavo Zermeño Jr. at Silverlake Lounge.
In one portrait series, the brand highlights a mother’s love, with portraits of mamas posing with their children, and in another, a nostalgic reminder of Gabriel’s music as the “soundtrack to our Sunday mornings.”
It’s clear that Gabriel’s impact transcends time and generations. His impact has remained immortalized in popular culture with the release of a special edition Juan Gabriel Funko POP!, a Juan Gabriel-inspired Barbie by Mattel, and the timeless covers of his music by today’s top artists.
