A new Adidas collection dropped just in time for the October holiday season. Now, sneakerheads will have something to pair their fits or costumes with as they attend events in celebration of Día de los Muertos and Halloween.
The adidas Samba Día de los Muertos shoes are now available for purchase at Shoe Palace for $120. The shoes come in two colors, black and off-white, and are packaged in a colorful shoebox with cempasúchils, ferns, and a skeleton.
Both colorways look like they’ve been stitched together like Frankenstein’s Monster and feature a Día de Muertos skull on one of the shoe’s tongues. Each shoe also features colorful embroidered flowers on the outside of the shoe and also features a colorful skull on one of the soles.
On social media, it didn’t take long for adidas fans to show interest in what they were selling. One social media user described the shoes as something Jack Skellington, the main character of the 1993 animated classic Nightmare Before Christmas, would wear if he was playing baseball. Someone else likened them to the kind of shoes that a mariachi would wear during a performance.
Shoe brands are not shy when it comes to stylizing their products for specific holidays. Last year some of them came out with Día de los Muertos-inspired shoes. It looks like Converse also has a pair in 2024, and even includes a creative commercial to help seal the deal.
We’re not sure how much room you have in your closet for shoes, but at least you know you have at least two more options.
