Barbie is celebrating Día de Muertos in style, and this year, they’re doing it with another brand new signature doll inspired by iconic Mexican folklore legends. For its 2025 edition, Mattel is paying tribute to one of the most well-known Mexican legends, La Llorona.
Designed by Javi Meabe, the doll pays tribute to La Llorona with a white ensemble featuring layers of lace and a fitted corset, accompanied by a full lace skirt and voluminous sleeves that lend it a ghostly vibe. Her hands feature a skeletal design, and her head is adorned with a headdress of black roses and a matching veil. That’s not all, there’s also the makeup! The Día de Muertos Barbie features purple and blue eyeshadow as well as Catrina-style details. Her hair is black and very long.
The packaging for the doll, designed by Charis Ceniseroz, is also inspired by Día de Muertos. It features a black background and elements of water, mist, and blue accents that reinforce the legend. The doll doesn’t stand alone, but includes a display base and a certificate of authenticity.
“The Barbie Day of the Dead collection continues to grow, celebrating both the traditions and stories that define Mexico’s cultural heritage. This year, we are especially inspired by La Llorona, a beautiful cultural symbol that continues to connect generations,” said Rafael Álvarez, Marketing Director for Dolls at Mattel.

La Llorona Barbie joins the 2025 Día de Muertos Barbie and Ken special editon dolls just dropped by Mattel. Those dolls also sported the traditional calavera design with a focus on the cempasúchil flower motif.
Barbie Día de Muertos 2025 Premium Edition: La Llorona is now available for $110 at Mattel’s website and select store in Latin America.
