Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony’s One Voice: Somos Live! telethon for Puerto Rico, Mexico, and Caribbean relief made history on Saturday night, bringing together a star-studded roster of Anglo and Latino celebrities at a scale that has no televised precedent. A record 2.56 million viewers tuned into the benefit concert.

Aside from performances from the hosts, viewers were treated to sets from Romeo Santos, DJ Khaled, Bad Bunny, Kany García, J Balvin, Mary J. Blige, Chayanne, Nicky Jam, Prince Royce, Maroon 5, Daddy Yankee, Stevie Wonder, and Demi Lovato, among others. But a standout performance of the night came from Bruno Mars, who repped his Boricua heritage with a Spanish-language rendition of “Just The Way You Are,” which he performed in front of a projection of a giant Puerto Rican flag.

Mars – né Peter Gene Hernandez – has been vocal in the past about his Puerto Rican heritage, telling Latina, “My last name is Hernandez. My father’s name is Pedrito Hernandez, and he’s a Puerto Rican pimp. There’s no denying that.”

In 2011, the Hawai’i-born Filipinorican performed with his father on the congas at his first-ever concert in Puerto Rico during his Doo-Wops & Hooligans tour.
