After 6 years of an on-again, off-again marriage, Cardi B has filed for divorce from Migos Rapper Offset. The news of the filing was confirmed by Cardi B’s representative to Page Six on Wednesday, July 31.
While the representative did not disclose additional information about the filing, the outlet reported that the “Up” rapper’s main priority is obtaining primary custody of her two children, Kulture and Wave Set.
News of the divorce comes just over 6 months after Cardi B confirmed her single status on a live broadcast to Instagram on December 10, 2023. In the video, the Bronx native says that she has been wanting to share the news of her split for some time, and that 2024 would be the year “to start fresh and open” adding that she is “curious for a new life.”
Separation rumors for the couple have frequently surfaced since the two began their relationship in 2017.
In 2020, Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset amid rumors of infidelity. In the divorce documents filed by Cardi B from 2020, she claimed her marriage with Offset was “Irretrievably broken” with “no prospects for reconciliation.” The divorce was later called off and the couple stayed together.
Despite reconciliation, the couple appeared to be struggling.
In June of 2023, Offset posted an Instagram story and stated that Cardi B was cheating on him. Just a month later, the couple apparently reconciled and collaborated on a music video, aptly titled “Jealousy.”
Not long after this announcement, Cardi B also announced that she was also pregnant with her third child.
In the caption she said, “With every ending comes a new beginning! I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion!”
