There’s a new Cardi B course coming to Howard University this fall semester. The private university announced its upcoming “The Cardi B: Am I The Drama? The Art, Production, Marketing and Cultural Impact” course, which highlights the Dominican rapper’s latest album rollout. The course is in partnership with the Warner Music/Blavatnik Center for Music Business.
“The idea for the Cardi B class came to me from a place of purpose and responsibility—to not just talk about real Music Industry Education and Hip Hop, but to activate it. I saw an opportunity to empower my peers, mobilize culture in real time, and build something that reflects the living, breathing energy of the industry,” the director of the Warner Music Blavatnik Center for Music Business at Howard University and professor Jasmine Young exclusively told theGrio about the course’s plans. “Students deserve a proactive, immersive learning environment where the lessons are current, culturally relevant, and rooted in real strategy—not just textbooks.”
In a nutshell, per the aforementioned media, students will get “an interdisciplinary experience that bridges music, business, marketing, media, gender studies, production, and cultural theory” in this new course. Part of the course is set to examine Cardi’s marketing, such as her creative viral moments, her social media presence, and community engagement efforts.
As far as units go, the course will earn students three credits. It is an elective course open for students who are minoring in Hip Hop studies. Registration is now open for the fall 2026 semester. For those interested and applicable, the new Hip Hop class will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:40 p.m. to 2 p.m. during the upcoming fall semester.
Beyond making history in the education realm, Cardi B is currently on her “Little Miss Drama Tour.” She will be performing in Ontario, Canada, tonight (March 31).
