A big congrats are in store for Carlos Rivera and Cynthia Rodríguez who just became parents for the first time. The Mexican pop star revealed that his TV presenter wife welcomed their son last night (August 3).
Rivera is known for winning the Mexican singing reality competition La Academia in 2004. A year later Rodríguez was a finalist on the show. After a brief singing career, she has since focused on acting and TV presenting. Following many years of keeping their relationship private, Rivera revealed that he married Rodríguez in June of last year in Spain. In March, he announced in a post on Instagram that they were expecting their first child together.
Once again on Instagram, Rivera revealed the exciting news that he and Rodríguez are now parents. The heartfelt post included a picture of the couple holding the foot of their baby boy, León Rivera Rodriguez. In 2011, Rivera experienced a career resurgence when he played Simba in a musical adaptation of El Rey León (The Lion King) in Spain. Their son is named after the classic Disney production.
“We asked for you with our strength to the universe,” Rivera wrote in Spanish. “And now that you’re here, we see that love turned into you. Our beloved León waited for daddy and decided to be born last night 08/03/23. He’s a beautiful baby, very healthy, very big, and very strong. Mom is perfect and beautiful. Today happiness has a whole new meaning in our lives.”
Rivera is in the middle of his world tour, but fortunately, he was able to see his son be born in between shows.
In the comments of the post, many Latine celebrities congratulated Rivera and Rodríguez on their bundle of joy. Telenovela actor Sebastián Rulli wrote, “Congratulations and may the blessings continue!!! Pure love for all 3 of you.” Yuridia, another Mexican superstar whose career was launched with La Academia, reacted with hearts and heart-eyes emojis.
