Musician Chris Perez unearthed a never-before-seen photo of himself and his late wife, Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla, and shared it with the world by posting it on his Instagram account.
The photo, which hit over 200,000 likes on Instagram by Wednesday night (January 25), features Selena and Perez sitting side by side at a table in a restaurant. Selena is wearing a white, button-down shirt, and her hair is down on both sides of her shoulders. Perez has on a white t-shirt with his sleeves rolled up and a pair of round glasses.
The time stamp on the photo reads March 3, 1994 – nearly one year before Selena would lose her life. That makes Selena 22 years old and Perez 23 years old in the photo.
“So, just found this pic,” Perez wrote on social media alongside the photo. “Two kids… trying to find their way. About to turn 23 and 24 years old. Can’t remember who took it…I think this was in Florida??? We were on the road and touring so much that sometimes, things get jumbled up in my mind. Good times were had, for sure!”
Many Selena fans were thankful for Chris sharing the photo on Instagram and let him know by reposting the photo on their own social media platforms.
“He still loves her with all his heart,” one message read on Twitter.
Others used emojis to show how heartbroken the photo made them feel.
“Selena did show me for the first time what love really was,” Perez said on a recent episode of The SmoothVega Podcast.
