Christina Aguilera looks stunning on the cover of the February issue of Elle Mexico. The monochrome image of the diva in a black dress, long gloves, and stylish accessories pops off the magazine with a lavender-colored masthead framing her front and center.

“When we think we’ve seen it all, #ChristinaAguilera reinvents herself and surprises us,” Elle Mexico tweeted. “Her time in the industry, her relevance, and her influence make her a true icon, and we’re excited to feature her as our February cover. #XtinaEnELLE.”

Currently, Aguilera is promoting the first part of her new album, La Fuerza, a six-track EP, which debuted last week. It’s her first Spanish-language album since Mi Reflejo in 2000. Included on the EP are the songs “Pa Mis Muchachas,” “Somos Nada” and her latest track “Santo,” a collaboration with Ozuna.

Aguilera told Elle Mexico that last year while she was in Miami, she “fell in love with music again,” which is when the new album began to develop.

“There is nothing like a sense of belonging and live music,” she said. “After so long in the industry, you forget the fun part and the reasons why you started. I found that feeling again.”

That sense of belonging, of course, includes tapping into her roots once again. It’s something Aguilera said she had been wanting to do for a long time, but never had the opportunity until now. She added that late singer Chavela Vargas was an inspiration to create the album, which will roll out as a trilogy throughout 2022.

“The passion with which [Vargas] sings is like from beyond,” Christina Aguilera explains. “It feels very real, very powerful. The instances where she lets go really inspired me to have moments like that on this record.”
