Imagine being told that your parents were famous and never knowing that that was the case. Well, that is something that just happened to Christina Aguilera’s daughter and the pop singer shared the sweet moment of realization.

Aguilera was speaking with Billboard on the red carpet for the 2022 Billboard Women in Music Awards. Complete with the leather looks that we have come to expect from the international music sensation, she talked about her work and how it manifests in front of her kids.

I’m not like, ‘Hey listen to mom’s new music,’ I’m not that person at all,” she said when asked about whether or not her children listen to her music and realize how cool she is. “At home, it’s like sweatpants, mom vibes.”

She has done such a good job at leaving work outside of her home that her daughter just recently learned that her mom is indeed famous. Just imagine being Xtina’s daughter and not realizing that she is one of the biggest pop stars on the planet.

She opened up about the moment when her daughter first started to realize that her mom was famous. It all started when a classmate asked her if her mom was famous.

“Are you?” her 7-year-old daughter Summer asked.

What followed was Xtina explaining to her what being famous meant because her daughter didn’t fully understand the concept of fame. “It just means a lot of people might know who you are … and they come to hear me sing,” Aguilera explained.

Christina Aguilera intentionally downplayed the fame part of her work because she wants her daughter to be inspired to work where she is comfortable and fulfilled. For her, the creative process is where she finds her fulfillment and she wants to make sure that Summer understands the importance of work versus the desire for fame.
