Beloved actor and comedian Leslie Jordan died in a single-vehicle car accident on Monday (October 24) after reportedly experiencing a medical emergency and crashing into a building in Los Angeles. He was 67.

Jordan was best known for his role on the TV series Will & Grace. In 2006, he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series for playing Beverly Leslie, the sexually ambiguous, conservative frenemy of Megan Mullally’s character Karen Walker.

Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1955, Jordan’s acting credits also include the 2011 comedy-drama The Help and the TV sitcom Call Me Kat, which stars Mayim Bialik and is currently airing its third season. Jordan found a whole new fan base when he started posting videos on social media during the pandemic where he shared his joyful and hilarious outlook on life with viewers.

Countless celebrities offered their condolences and memories of Jordan on social media, including heartfelt words from singer Demi Lovato. “My sweet Leslie…Your smile and personality lit up the room when I met you,” she wrote. “I’m so glad we remained friends after meeting not long ago…I’m so honored to call you a friend. I love you sweet angel.”

Actress Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) also shared her thoughts on what made Jordan so special to his fans. “Leslie Jordan put a smile on the faces of so many, especially with his pandemic videos,” she wrote. “What a feat to keep us all laughing and connected in such difficult times… It feels so cruel that this could happen to such a beautiful soul.”

Actor Wilson Cruz (Star Trek: Discovery) was at a loss for words but tried his best to express what he was feeling after finding out Jordan had died. “I don’t even know what to say,” he wrote. “I’m heartbroken. Leslie was the sweetest, most generous and bright light. The world is that much darker today. I’m sending LOVE to all who knew and adored him. RIP #LeslieJordan.”
