  • Unemployment claims in the U.S. fell to the lowest levels since the start of the pandemic. Americans are hopeful that increasing access to Coronavirus vaccines will be the key to economic growth and work opportunities. Roughly 14% of the population in the U.S. have been fully vaccinated. [WaPo]
  • Days after the U.S. health officials released a statement questioning results AstraZeneca published about its vaccine trials, the company has adjusted its efficacy rate, saying its vaccine is 76% effective at preventing COVID-19 rather than 79% effective. [NYT]
  • President Joe Biden has placed Vice President Kamala Harris in charge of handling the surge of migrants arriving at the Southern U.S. border. Biden assured that Harris’ career experience displays her qualifications. The pair has emphasized the need to deal with the “root” issues driving migration. [BBC]
  • DoorDash announced they will be adding COVID-19 tests to the list of items they deliver, offering two test options (nasal swab or saliva sample) that provide results within 24-48 hours. The service is available in 12 American cities so far. [BBC]
  • With overwhelmed hospitals and necessary medical resources in short supply, doctors in Brazil are having to triage patients and decide who receives treatment and who is turned away. Brazil had more coronavirus deaths than any country outside of the U.S. Daily deaths surpassed the 3,000 mark on Tuesday. [WaPo]
  • GLAAD announced that the cast of the Fox TV series Glee will reunite at the 32nd Annual GLAAD Media Awards for a special tribute to the late actress Naya Rivera. The tribute is meant to highlight the 10-year anniversary of the character’s coming out on television. [Billboard]
