Eiza González (Baby Driver) has transformed into the late Mexican actress and icon María Félix for the cover of February’s issue of Vogue México. González will portray the legendary movie star in an upcoming biopic.

“So happy to share one out of 4 covers we created!” González posted on Instagram in Spanish and English. “What a way to kick off my bday week! Thank you so much Vogue for such a wonderful shoot.”

The cover of the magazine features a closeup of the 31-year-old beauty wearing a beige coat and buttoned top and a gold and silver snake accessory and a red and black handkerchief around her neck.

In another image González posted from the photoshoot, she is wearing a wide-leg, leopard-patterned jumpsuit, black belt, gold bracelets, and a gold and silver necklace. She is also holding a black, brimmed hat above her perfectly coiffed hair. “Maria bonita always being an inspiration,” she added to the post, referencing one of Felix’s nicknames.

Although González hasn’t spoken much about the biopic, she told Vogue México she wanted “the project to speak for itself when it’s ready.” She added, “The only thing I can tell you is that we are super involved with María’s heritage … Obviously, my intention is to film it in my country, go to Mexico, bring more opportunities to its scene, more jobs.”

When Eiza González was cast last summer, she called it “one of the most exciting moments” of her life. “I’ve always wanted to tell a story that features women, namely Latina women,” she wrote on social media. “Maria was a pioneer of the feminist movement who helped lay the foundation for future female trailblazers. Maria is an inspiration to me and many others.”

Apparently, the inspiration is not only for Félix’s talent as an actress but as a fashionista, too.
