The most ambitious reality competition on Spanish-language television, Miss Universe Latina, El Reality, is coming to Telemundo.

Premiering Tuesday, June 3 at 7PM/6C, it follows captains and renowned Miss Universe titleholders Alicia Machado and Zuleyka Rivera as they mentor the selected contestants vying to win the first-ever Miss Universe Latina crown and earn the right to compete in the 74th edition of Miss Universe in Thailand later this year.

Hosted by Jacqueline Bracamontes, Miss Universe Latina, El Reality will see aspiring contestants divided into two teams: Emerald and Ruby, named after the precious gemstones which will adorn the Miss Universe crown, soon to be revealed. Each mentor will be responsible for selecting their respective teams according to their own criteria and play a fundamental role in developing the candidates.

With the help of the audience’s vote, each week a demanding jury will decide who best meets the requirements and will remain in the competition until the first Miss Universe Latina is crowned.

Miss Universe 1996, Alicia Machado, will serve as the captain of Team Emerald. This Venezuelan actress, TV personality, singer, and beauty queen gained international fame by becoming the fourth Venezuelan to win the crown. After her time as Miss Universe, Machado transitioned into entertainment. She has taken part in several Telemundo productions, including winning the first season of the hit primetime reality competition La Casa de los Famosos, as well as competing in the third season of Top Chef VIP.

Miss Universe 2006, Zuleyka Rivera, will be the captain of Team Ruby. Rivera gained international fame at the age of 18 by becoming one of the youngest winners in the history of the pageant and the fifth Puerto Rican to win the coveted title. In 2007, this actress, TV host, dancer, and model began her career in entertainment with her role in the Telemundo telenovela Dame Chocolate. Since then, she has participated in numerous productions, including the first season of Top Chef VIP, where she became one of the finalists. Rivera also appeared in the music video “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee.
