Julio César Chávez Jr. started 2024 with strong allegations against his father, Mexican boxing legend Julio César Chávez. The boxer, who also had some success in the ring, holding the WBC middleweight title from 2011 to 2012, spoke harshly about his dad in a series of videos.
Chávez Jr., who has struggled with addiction issues for years, accused his father of having him “confined against his will in a treatment center” and “keeping him kidnapped for three years.” That’s not the only harsh accusation levied against Julio César Chávez Sr., however, with his son also accusing his father of beating and traumatizing his mother, Amalia Carrasco, and of trying to kill him.
“My father tore my mother to pieces, he beat her, he humiliated her, she is traumatized, she can no longer do anything. She was damaged for the rest of her life by the same guy who is damaging me, a f**king ‘bully’ who says he wants to help me.”
Chávez Jr. then goes on to call his father “basura” and asks for him to be thrown in jail.
Julio César Chávez Sr. had previously posted a message for his son on December 31st on X, formerly known as Twitter. In it, he’d said. “Hopefully, God willing, a project of light falls on you and you stop talking so much nonsense.”
As for why he’s no longer involved with his son’s rehab and struggles with addiction, Chávez Sr. explained. “The laws in the United States are very different, and if I go after him they can put me in jail and it’s like a kidnapping.”
