Maná is reacting to the Los Angeles wildfires through their social media platforms. On January 9, the iconic Mexican rock band announced they’re going to make donations towards those affected by the fires, and are encouraging their colleagues and communities to do the same.

In a new social media video featuring vocalist Fher Olvera, the band talks about the fires in Los Angeles. He opens the video by saying that the city is “like hell” and that the situation looks “tremendous.” He then encourages their fellow Latine artist colleagues and Latine communities to donate if they can.

In the caption, the band wrote that Los Angeles has “always been family and a second home” for them; and announced that they will donate to those affected by the fires.

The band lists three organizations that they’re supporting: the LAFD firefighters “who have risked their own lives to save others,” the World Central Kitchen who are “supporting with food for all service people who are fighting the fired and those affected,” and the Pasadena Community Job Center, who are migrant workers helping families affected by the fires.

“Pongamos nuestro granito de arena,” the vocalist concludes in the video. “Los Angeles, Maná loves you, we are with you.”

Olvera also posted another video with words of encouragement and solidarity to those affected. He tells the affected families that they’re not alone. He also thanks the firefighters and those helping combat the wildfires.

As of now, Los Angeles County remains under a red flag warning through Friday night (January 10). For real-time updates regarding the wildfires, locals can check out the Watch Duty app, which alerts you of nearby wildfires and firefighting efforts.
