San Diego Comic-Con may be seen as the definitive voice for geek culture, but it’s not always representative of everyone (looking at you, white superheroes). While Chicano-Con decided to start something mas pa’ la gente Latina, Comic Conga is not looking to replace Comic-Con. They want to attract the same crowd by making the event free to Comic-Con goers, as well as make new fans.
On Friday, June 10, Comic Conga will take place from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Centro Cultural de la Raza. Lalo Alcaraz (La Cucaracha, Bordertown), Junco Canché, and Igor Goldkind (IS SHE AVAILABLE?) will be there to make it super authentic. Conga is a collaboration among “Rizeohmatic,” Centro Cultural, Cosmic School of Art, Little Fish Comic Books Studio, and Border X Brewing. Tickets will be $13 at the door, though they can be pre-purchased for $8.
