High-profile stars like music artists Jennifer López and Becky G have accepted invitations from Michelle Obama to serve as co-chairs in When We All Vote, a national, nonpartisan organization the former First Lady launched in 2018.
The mission of When We All Vote is to increase participation in elections by bringing individuals, institutions, brands, and organizations together to register new voters across the country.
Others taking part in the campaign are Selena Gomez and Lin-Manuel Miranda. They are joined by Steph Curry, H.E.R., Bretman Rock, Tom Hanks, Shonda Rhimes, Kerry Washington, Janelle Monáe, and many more.
“The fight for our right to vote has never been more important,” J.Lo tweeted. “That’s why I’m joining @michelleobama as a @whenweallvote Co-Chair. Together we will: Change the culture around voting, increase voter participation, close the race and age gap and fight voter suppression.”
J.Lo added in a statement: “The future of our children depends on the health of our democracy. That’s why I am honored to join When We All Vote’s critical mission of protecting access to the ballot boxes and increasing voter participation among young people. I hope you join us in this important moment in history.”
J.Lo and Becky G are two of the newest co-chairs to participate. They join a board that already includes celebrities like Lin-Manuel Miranda, Selena Gomez, Tom Hanks, Janelle Monáe, Chris Paul, Kerry Washington, Rita Wilson and many others.
“Mi gente, the Midterm Elections are coming up!” Becky G tweeted. “Join me, @MichelleObama and @WhenWeAllVote in the fight against voter suppression. Together with your help, we will change the culture around voting & increase participation in every election.”
