  • Pfizer/BioNTech says its COVID-19 vaccine was 100% effective and well-tolerated in ages 12 to 15 in clinical trials. Side effects were similar to those commonly seen among 16 to 25 year olds (pain at injection site, fatigue, and fever).The company plans to submit the data to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration as soon as possible.   • The Biden Administration allowed journalists into the main border detention facility for migrant children and families in Donna, Texas for the first time on Tuesday. Over 4,000 people were housed at a facility with a capacity of 250. The Biden Administration has been under pressure to bring transparency to the border, in light of the recent surge of unaccompanied minors. [AP]
  • New York Governor Andrew Cuomo signed legislation on Wednesday (March 31) that would legalize the use of recreational marijuana in the state after years of stalled attempts. The law would come with a program to reinvest millions of dollars in minority communities that have disproportionately suffered because of the war on drugs. [NYT]
  • The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) released an article detailing blatant mistreatment towards three Latina journalists at 9News. Lori Lizarraga, one of the journalists who cited discriminatory reasons for being let go from 9News, recalls being instructed to refer to undocumented immigrants as illegal immigrants, despite expressing her discomfort with the problematic terminology. Lizarraga noted that after firing the 3 Latina journalists, 9News hired additional white staff members [NAHJ]
  • Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, media giant Univision Communications significantly grew their revenue throughout 2020. Univision CEO Wade Davis expressed excitement over utilizing this momentum to unlock the company’s full media potential. Univision recently acquired VIX, a streaming service that offers content to Hispanic audiences across the U.S. and Latin America. [Billboard]
  • Following the Forum Low “The First Café” shows that sold out in minutes, Bad Bunny and Adidas unveiled their latest shoe collaboration. The new design, made with premium pink leather and pink suede, is called the Forum Low “Easter Egg.” It’s expected out on April 4. [Hypebeast]
