Billboard announced today (Feb. 15) that Spanish singer Rosalía will be the first-ever recipient of the Producer of the Year Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards. Since its inauguration in 2007, the ceremony annually celebrates the significant contributions female artists have made to the music industry.

“We are thrilled to honor Rosalía with this award and recognize her behind-the-scenes work in the recording studio to bring her vision to fruition,” said Hannah Karp, Billboard’s Editorial Director, via press release. “With numerous groundbreaking hits that blur the lines between traditional music genres, Rosalía consistently uses her unique producing abilities to break the mold and deliver the unexpected.”

In addition to Rosalía’s award, several prominent female artists will be in attendance to receive other honors. Ivy Queen and Becky G, the only Latinas on the bill, will be recognized at the awards ceremony. Ivy Queen will be presented with the Icon Award, while Becky G will receive the Impact Award. Other honorees include Doechii, Kim Petras, Latto, Lainey Wilson, Lana Del Rey, and the K-Pop girl group TWICE.

The Spanish singer has been having a busy 2023 so far. At the top of the year, the “Despecha” singer performed at the Louis Vuitton Men’s Fall-Winter 2023 Fashion Show in Paris, France. She also released her bilingual pop-flamenco single “LLYLM,” which she had been teasing for some time. The album Motomami won Best Latin Rock or Alternative Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards. There was also the news that she would return to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.

Hosted by Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Bronson, the Billboard Women in Music Awards will take place on Mar. 1 at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, CA.
