Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla — REDCAT
For their first presentation in Los Angeles, artist Jennifer Allora and Guillermo Calzadilla will spare no detail. The two artists based their work on the story of two elephants, Hans and Parkie, who reached the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. The elephants, however, were spoils of war and in that same year a group of musicians decided to play a concert to see if they could communicate with the bones. This was back in 1798, but this weekend the artists will re-enact the live performance minus the vocals. The artists will give a talk this Friday, June 27 at 6 p.m. before beginning their performance at 8 p.m. If you can’t make that day, the performance will also take place Sunday, June 29 at 4:30 p.m.

Annual Print Fair and Exhibition — Self Help Graphics
For one day only, all you print aficionados can gather together during an awesome event thrown by Self-Help Graphics. For your picks, you’ll have work created by Self Help artists over the past two years; among them are fine art prints from artists like Salomon Huerta and Angel Villanueva. Daniel Gonzalez also crafted a special commemorative Dia de Los Muertos print. It’s a great event not just for collectors but anyone that loves art and wants to support up-and-coming artists. The event kicks off Saturday, June 28 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. More than a couple hours to find a great new print to take home or just check out some amazing artists.
