“Two strangers. One night. Everything changes.” That’s the logline for the currently playing play The Woolgatherer.

Starring Mayans M.C. Antonio Jaramillo and acclaimed independent film actress and writer Ashley Alvarez, it tells the story of Rose and Cliff, two strangers searching for connection in William Mastrosimone’s first play.

Haunted by their pasts, one is prone to daydreaming and fantasy and the other is dodging discomfort left and right. And the heart of the play is if two lonely hearts, damaged but hopeful, can find love with each other? And as “their world collide” it causes an eruption of emotions.

The Woolgatherer is currently playing at The Victory Theater in Burbank, California. Mastosimone’s The Woolgatherer premiered Off-Broadway in 1979, earning acclaim for its heartfelt and poetic storytelling. And this version is directed by Rob Nagle, whose directing credits include MacBeth, Our Lady of 121st Street, and Missing Marissa.

Jaramillo played Michael ‘Riz’ Ariza in Mayans M.C. and starred in 20 episodes. His character was the former El Secretario of the Mayans Motorcycle Club, Santo Padre charter. And he appeared in the series premiere episode, ultimately meeting his demise in the following season. He’s also starred in Queen of the South, Chicago Med, Station 19, and NCIS: Origins.

Tickets for The Woolgatherer can be bought at jaramilloproductions.com. And shows run until September 7, 2025. So if you’re interested in supporting Latine plays, don’t miss out on this one!
