Artist Ugly Primo is hosting his first show in Los Angeles on Friday, and it’s going to be a party — literally.

According to the Chicano connoisseur, illustrator and retired quinceañera DJ, guests can expect everything from an open bar, exclusive merch, spins by the likes of Mija Doris and DJ Lechero and – of course – art installations at Primo’s Playhouse, as he’s calling the pop-up-slash-party.

In the past year, Ugly Primo has freely given us unique interpretations of moments in culture, including President Donald Trump (who is both a person and hopefully just a moment) as well as unique depictions of a few of our icons, including Walter Mercado and Héctor Lavoe.

With more than 40,000 Instagram followers, including Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny and Ivy Queen, he’s quickly become a favorite. His art is for everyone, but more than anything, it’s for us.

“When I make a piece, it’s a reflection of me, something I grew up with,” he told Remezcla last year. “There’s a lot of people I make art for – the underrepresented communities in Latino culture.”

His bright, colorful illustrations have served as a source of comic relief and joy for some time now, and artists like J Balvin and Cuco have taken notice. Now, you, too, can get your pic with his art and party it up with him and his friends.

The party is set to take place at Downtown Los Angeles’ RSVP Gallery at 8 p.m.
