History was made tonight (February 8th) during the Super Bowl LX performance headlined by Bad Bunny. The Puerto Rican artist was accompanied by worldwide talent on stage, including 16x Grammy Award Winner, Lady Gaga, who gave a nod to la cultura in a custom Luar dress.

Lady Gaga joined Bad Bunny on the rooftop of a building fashioned after El Castillo San Felipe del Morro and as a wedding happened around her. She performed a salsa rendition of “Die With a Smile” wearing a custom Luar design. The light blue flamenco dress featured a plunging neckline and a detailed stitch waist. The custom dress included a three tiered skirt, and included a subtle shoutout to La Isla through the inclusion of Puerto Rico’s national flower, la flor de maga, as an accessory.

Luar is a Dominican designer who garners inspiration from the Dominican Republic and New York City. Raul Lopez, the designer behind Luar, has won several awards for his designs, including the 2024 CFDA Award for Designer of the Year.

Luar shared stories of the baby blue look on the brand’s Instagram page, including BTS footage of tailors working on the dress.

Luar also posted a photo of the dress on the brand’s Instagram feed, stating “For the culture and for all Immigrants— this is how we come together.”
