Ahead of the show’s grand premiere, Telemundo invited Remezcla to Mexico City for the wedding of the year where we got an advanced screening of episode one. The stellar cast includes Fabiola Guajardo, Iván Arana, Cristián de la Fuente, Verónica Merchant, Mauricio Henao, Sara Corrales, Pepe Gámez, and more. Some of the cast members exclusively talked to Remezcla about how the show is all about woman empowerment.
“I am very happy and very excited to be the female lead in this series,” said Fabiola Guajardo, who is the lead actress in the series portraying the role of Gloria Guzmán. “It’s about a woman who people think she has it all but then she loses her father, the husband, and the trust from everyone around her is completely gone.” Guajardo is no stranger to acting since she’s been in numerous roles before, but this is her first leading role on Telemundo. “For me, La Jefa means strength, resilience, passion, protection but most of all, lots of strength.”
The premiere event had a stunning wedding-themed setting to immerse the guests into episode one of La Jefa where we see Fabiola’s character tie the knot but her dream day ends in a dramatic blood bath. Her husband is played by Chilean actor, Cristian de La Fuente who said it was a fun project to be a part of, “ we hope the audience enjoys it half as much as we did while shooting it.”
Colombian actress, Sara Corrales served an all-black fierce look with a bold red lip at the event where she expressed the series empowers every woman. “The lead role is a woman but I think that it’s a series that empowers all women because when the fans watch the show, they’ll notice that there are a lot of women that make the show and it’s an exciting time for all the females in the cast.”
If you’re an avid Telemundo series fanatic, then you’ll see a few familiar faces including actor Ivan Arana, who plays the role of Eduardo. “La Jefa is the type of woman who knows who she is, she listens to her own voice, and demonstrates through her own actions the type of woman that the world needs.”
Another familiar face is Jesus More, you’ll recognize him from Telemundo’s El Senor de Los Cielos where he starred as the President of Mexico but in La Jefa he plays a completely different role. “This character is challenging for me because he is the good guy. He’s a DEA agent and in this role, I am chasing all the bad guys.”
The wedding-themed event was very intimate with a walking aisle down the middle of the seats where the cast walked in to watch the advanced screening of episode one with the guests. After the screening, Telemundo’s Hoy Dia host Clovis Nienow moderated a Q&A with the lead actors where they shared their excitement about their new show. To keep the Mexican wedding-themed alive, there was a full-blown mariachi at the end of the screening alongside tequila drinks, some wedding cake, and Fabiola even threw a flower bouquet to the ladies in the crowd.
La Jefa premieres on Tuesday, February 18 at 10pm only on Telemundo.
