Ella Bric’s influence on the music scene is undeniable. She’s made waves as a producer, singer, and trumpeter, with awards to prove it. More importantly, she has become a powerful and leading voice for our communities. Bric tells stories celebrating our heritage and traditions by experimenting with R&B, trap, folk, Afro-Latin rhythms, and jazz.
Her impact extends even further, though.

In “Lawn Talks”—our collaborative series with Neutrogena that blends environment and conversation—artists discuss their musical influences, skincare routines, and memorable moments under New York City’s scorching summer heat.
During one of her recording sessions, Bric welcomed us into her studio to share about her music, skincare musts, and how she keeps her culture alive through creativity. Her approach to sun protection, essential given her frequent exposure to the blazing sun, is a priority in her daily, busy life.

“Sometimes I have to do sound checks that last 3 or 4 hours, under the sun. There’s no place to hide. So it’s crucial for me to be able to take care of my skin, but mostly [crucial to have] a product that is not so heavy. I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen lotion because it’s a powerful sunscreen you can’t feel.”

This protection allows Bric to enjoy one of her favorite seasons. “Summer makes me feel hopeful for the future. I’m grateful, and I just want to be outside.” It’s not just about work—being outdoors recharges her.
Originally from Venezuela and now based in New York, this multifaceted artist—trumpet player, composer, music producer, junior filmmaker, and actress—finds deep meaning in the creative process. “I feel like creating is like a game. To create, I need a clean space where I allow myself to be vulnerable, but at the same time, I allow myself to be consistent and have fun as well, and try to get an idea to become a song.”

This approach means embracing her surroundings and incorporating them into her music. “In New York City, you get influences from everything, so I decided to go back to my own roots,” she shared. So, my music now sounds like Afro-Caribbean, Jazz, R&B, but mostly folk right now.” Like all art, music constantly evolves, and Bric’s journey continues with one clear purpose.

“I hope to keep honoring my ancestors, my story, and my family, [and] to be able to find a way… back to myself, and to know what the reason was that got me started in the beginning,” she says.
