Gotham City is getting a new hero – and he’s Latine.

Mexican actor Alfonso Herrera (Dance of the 41) has been cast to give life to Batman in the Spanish-language version of the Batman Unearthed podcast. The podcast is an audio series on Spotify that follows Batman in a new collection of dark narratives and will feature some of his most terrifying adversaries. This time Batman, AKA Bruce Wayne, works as a forensic pathologist at Gotham Hospital. The series is written and executive produced by David S. Goyer (Batman Begins).

“We have a unique opportunity to usher in a new era of DC’s universally beloved superheroes through the world of audio,” said Dawn Ostroff, Spotify’s Director of Advertising and Content Business. “The power of podcasts has never been more apparent than with David Goyer’s chilling soundscape masterpiece telling the momentous story of Bruce Wayne.”

Joining Herrera for the Spanish-language version of Batman Unearth includes Ana Brenda Contreras (Dynasty) as Barbara Gordon, Zuria Vega (Alma de Hierro) as Kell, Alfonso Borbolla (Club de Cuervos) as The Riddler, and theater actor Hernán Mendoza as Thomas Wayne.

The podcast will also be aired in English, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Indonesian and Italian. For the English-language version, the cast includes Winston Duke (Black Panther) as Bruce Wayne, Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin) as Barbara Gordon, Jason Isaacs (Mass) as Alfred, Hasan Minhaj (Patriot Act) as The Riddler, and Lance Reddick (John Wick) as Thomas Wayne.

Batman Unearthed will debut on Spotify on May 3, 2022.
