Alfonso Herrera has joined the sci-fi fantasy film Rebel Moon, which will be directed by fanboy favorite Zack Snyder (Zack Snyder’s Justice League).

The news is coming off the heels of the announcement that Herrera will be voicing Batman in the Spanish-language version of the upcoming podcast Batman Unearthed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, production on the ambitious Netflix film project will begin later this month and will be split into two movies. Details about Herrera’s character have not been revealed.

Rebel Moon will star Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond) in the lead role as a woman who leads a resistance against a group of intergalactic armies set to destroy a peaceful colony. According to Screen Rant, the film is based on an idea that Snyder had for a new Star Wars movie, which Lucasfilm passed on. Now, it seems, Snyder is attempting to make his own epic franchise.

Along with Herrera, other actors who have recently been cast in the film are Cary Elwes (Stranger Things), Corey Stoll (West Side Story) and Michiel Huisman (Game of Thrones). Other talent already announced include Charlie Hunnam (The Gentlemen), Ray Fisher (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice) and Oscar nominee Djimon Hounsou (In America).

While many Latines will recognize Alfonso Herrera for his role as Miguel Arango Cervera in the original Rebelde series that aired from 2004 to 2006, the Mexican actor crossed over in 2015 on the Netflix series Sense8 and then on the short-lived 2016 series, The Exorcist. His most recent role is on Season 4 of Ozark where he plays Javier “Javi” Elizondro, the lieutenant of a drug cartel.
