America Ferrera’s Barbie monologue was more than just a great scene in the film, it was a cultural moment. Rita Moreno made sure to point that out as she introduced the actress while the Best Supporting Actress category at the 2024 Oscars was being awarded.

“Your powerful Barbie monologue is perhaps the most talked-about moment in the most talked-about movie of the past year,” Moreno said. But the monologue didn’t land Ferrera an Oscar. Instead, Da’Vine Joy Randolph took home the award for her brilliant performance in The Holdovers.

Some called America an Oscar winner in their hearts.
