Ariana DeBose and Bella Ramsey hugged it out during the Primetime Emmy Awards, proving there’s no bad blood between them – even after that viral moment during the Critics Choice Awards that had the internet jumping to DeBose’s defense. The event took place on January 15th.

The moment that led to the hug happened on the day before, Sunday, January 14th. Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos – who costarred with DeBose in Hamilton – presented the award for Best Song. Reading from the teleprompter, Ramsey delivered a very questionable joke including Broadway veteran BeBose, who won an Oscar for West Side Story, among the list of “actors who think that they are singers.”

Cameras then cut to DeBose’s less than amused reaction. The actress even chimed in on Instagram later confirming what her face clearly said. “No, I didn’t find it funny.”

Both Ramsey and Ramos looked somewhat uncomfortable at the joke as it was being delivered. Actors don’t typically write the jokes for a ceremony like the Critics Choice Awards, though sometimes they can deviate from the script a little or add a line or two.

One day later, at the Primetime Emmy Awards, everything seemed to be good between DeBose and Ramsey, or at least better, as they hugged it out.

Ariana DeBose was nominated in the category of Outstanding Variety Special (Live). She hosted the 75th Annual Tony Awards. Bella Ramsey, meanwhile, was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress In A Drama Series category, for The Last of Us. Neither of them won their categories, but they at least got to put the uncomfortable moment from the day before behind them.
