On Tuesday (March 14), the National Hispanic Media Coalition (NHMC) announced its first-ever Visionary Alliance to “connect, collaborate, and create opportunities for Latine talent in the entertainment industry.”
Through the NHMC’s Visionary Alliance, which builds off the organization’s 2023 theme “We are the rule, not the exception,” members can help ensure that Latine representation in film and TV “is more than just a set of initiatives or corporate DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) commitments.”
The list of inaugural members of the Visionary Alliance includes talents like Aubrey Plaza, Eva Longoria, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Rosario Dawson, Wilmer Valderrama, Gabriel Luna, Gina Torres, Wilson Cruz, Gloria Calderón Kellett, Harvey Guillén, Justina Machado, Danny Pino, Diane Guerrero, Lisa Vidal, and Yvett Merino.
“We are elated that some of the most talented and influential voices in the entertainment world are part of our first ever Visionary Alliance,” Brenda Victoria Castillo, President & CEO of NHMC, said in a statement. “These members are visionaries … who have paved their own lanes in this industry and throughout their careers have been champions for what we stand and advocate for every day. We are committed to continuing the work in uplifting Latine creatives, while also advocating for representation and inclusivity throughout multiple industries and within our government.”
In a statement, The White Lotus’ Aubrey Plaza talked about how honored she was to join the Visionary Alliance and support “the underrepresented voices” that are an inspiration to many people.
“NHMC is not afraid to take up space and make noise to bring attention to the lack of diversity in our industry as a whole,” she said. “It’s fitting that they have brought all of us together to truly realize a vision for an inclusive Hollywood.”
