The Lopez family is growing on NBC. Harvey Guillén (What We Do in the Shadows), Chelsea Rendon (Vida), and Jessica Marie Garcia (On My Block) have been added to the cast of Lopez Vs. Lopez to play a trio of Mayan’s (Mayan Lopez) cousins.

According to character descriptions from Deadline, each of the primos comes from a different walk of life. Miguel (Guillén) is a “pseudo-intellectual cousin” earning a degree in Chicano studies and “bragging about the TED talk he gave on the cultural significance of the Hot Cheeto.”

Luna (Rendon) is a “free-spirited cousin” who lives a nomadic lifestyle traveling the world in a camper. Yesika (Garcia) is a social media influencer who introduces Mayan to the joys of Instagram.

“Surprise!” Guillén posted on social media. “Guess who’s joining la familia?!”

Rendon also commented on her new gig by thanking showrunner Debby Wolfe and George and Mayan Lopez. “The primos are hereeeeee!” she wrote. “So honored to be joining this family. Let’s goooo!”

Garcia posted the announcement online, too, and recalled watching the original George Lopez show when she was a kid. “The little Mexicana/Cubanita watching [George Lopez] on her screen and sitting in awe of a man, of a family who looked like mine, sounded like mine,” she wrote. “This one is dedicated to that lil gordita who wanted to stand next to this man and make people laugh … look at you mama, you did it. Nothing but love, laughs, and familia on this set, and I’m so grateful to you all for having me.”

Don’t forget, new episodes of Lopez Vs. Lopez air on Fridays at 8 p.m. EST.

In tonight’s episode, Mayan tries to help her husband Quinten (Matt Shively) be a “down ass fool” and not embarrass himself when he spends the evening hanging out with her dad playing fantasy baseball.
