Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice. That’s officially the name for the new Beetlejuice sequel movie, which is set to be released on September 6th of this year. Warner Bros. Pictures made the official announcement alongside the release of a new poster.

The poster features Michael Keaton’s hands in character as Beetlejuice, the mischievous ghost we were first introduced to in the 1988 film. He’s holding a piece of paper with different numbers in black. The release date stands out because the numbers can be seen in green. Above the paper, a black beetle is visible in the corner.

It seems to be a reference to the Neitherworld Waiting Room, the waiting room for ghosts seen in the original movie, and the ticket each ghost had to take hold of to secure their place in line. Ironically, fans have indeed been waiting a long time for this sequel. The movie’s name can then be seen in green at the bottom.

Jenna Ortega is set to star in Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to the original 1988 movie starring Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder. Ortega will play the daughter of Ryder’s character, Lydia Deetz. Keaton, Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara are also returning to their original roles, with Tim Burton directing the film.

The original film sees Lydia and her family move into the home of a recently deceased couple. Unhappy to see their home occupied, the two return as ghosts in an attempt to scare the family out of their home with the help of an uncouth entity, Beetlejuice (Keaton). Things get out of hand quickly, with the couple forming a bond with the family’s daughter Lydia.

Fans are already very excited about the sequel, with some calling the movie title “Perfection. No notes.”

And others saying it implies a third movie is coming because the way to summon Keaton’s character is to say his name three times.

Either way, Beetlejuice is coming back, and we’re looking forward to finding out how Ortega’s character fits into this and why she’s in a wedding dress.
