Over the last two years on her Facebook Watch reality series Cardi Tries, singer Cardi B has attempted to do a host of random feats, including stunt driving, rhythmic gymnastics, and inking her husband Offset with a real tattoo.
In the most recent episode, Cardi B goes fishing for the first time with actress Keke Palmer, her co-star in the 2019 film Hustlers.
Meeting up with Palmer at a dock in Marina del Rey, California, Cardi surprised her with news that they would be going fishing. Palmer seemed happy since she used to go fishing with her father when she was a kid. Cardi had a few good reasons why she had never been fishing before.
“I don’t know how to swim…and I barely get on boats,” she said. “But I really want to learn how to fish because my husband’s always talking about it. He a down-south-man. But I’m so New York. Nobody wanna go fishing in the Hudson River. That’s a swamp right there.”
After a little twerking and joke from Cardi about “going to Sponge Bob’s house,” the duo learned they would be fishing for sand bass using anchovies and squid as bait. Then, they boarded a boat named New del Mar and were off to catch some dinner.
At one point, Cardi and Palmer reenacted the scene from the 1997 film Titanic where Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) holds Rose (Kate Winslet) on the boat’s rail. “Keke, I feel like I’m flying,” Cardi said as she played the part of Rose. “Hold me tighter.”
Later, Cardi and Palmer finally got to go fishing, although they weren’t too happy about having to put a hook through a live anchovy.
“You’re going to come in the afterlife as a shark!” Cardi tells the anchovies.
